Thank you for joining me on this Journey for the last two weeks. When I began writing this series, it was because I’d always wanted to compare TS Eliot’s poem, “Journey of the Magi”, to Eliot’s own faith conversion. Beyond that, I had no clear goals. I wasn’t sure anyone would even want to read it. Does anyone read TS Eliot anymore? And to research and write 19 daily posts in the busy weeks before Christmas seemed to be a ludicrous idea!
But once an idea is in my head, it’s hard to stop it. I plowed ahead, often using my lunch break—30 precious minutes—to work on this project.
And I’m glad I did. Those of you who liked or commented on the posts astounded me with your connections to the journey of the Magi. Several of you told me that the daily posts had added to your understanding and awe at the season of Advent.
There were also unexpected benefits for me. I had never intended to parallel my years as a spousal caregiver with the journey of the Magi; it just happened as I wrote. And, again, my readers responded, to the point that I might rework these posts into an Advent devotional in the future.
I was inconsistent in posting these blogs on social media each day, so in the weeks between now and Little Christmas—Three Kings’ Day—I will post one each day. And for the next two weeks, as I take much-needed time to work on my book proposal for Finding Father: A Journey of Faith on the Autism Spectrum, I will be posting two Christmas stories from the caregiving years.
Merry Christmas dear one, love to you and your family 👪❤️
Thank you for providing a glimpse into TS Eliot. I had never explored his writing, I must confess. Merry Christmas.
