Forget-Me-Not Faithfulness
"Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all His benefits." —Psalm 103:2
The Little Blue Room
Leaving was hard.
I stood in Room 108 one last time, letting my eyes rest on the space I had called home for the past seven years. It was just a small classroom by the staircase but to me it was a sanctuary. A place of belonging, of learning, of laughter. A place where I had found healing after my husband’s death.
I had poured my heart into that room, shaping it into a haven for my English as a Second Language students. But now, the posters were down. My books were boxed. Teaching materials were passed to new hands.
“I walked away with much more than I had entered.”
I had said my goodbyes. Thirty-seven years of teaching and learning were behind me. And ahead? I didn’t know. But I knew it was time. God had made that much clear. He was calling me into something new.
On the blackboard, a final message from my students read:
“We love Miss Linda.”
Each name written in chalk felt like a blessing.
I let a tear fall. Then, I turned off the lights and closed the door.
Transitions and Tears
"Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God,
till I declare your power to the next generation..."
—Psalm 71:18
Leaving is never easy.
This week, we said goodbye to Pastor Amy, our senior pastor at Atonement Methodist Church. Her departure was not without tears. We love her. We’ve grown under her care. We’ve seen God move through her leadership.
But what struck me most about Amy’s final message was this:
It wasn’t about her leaving.
It was about what continues.
“Eternity has no beginning and no end. The story is still being written.”
She reminded us to pause and sit in the presence of God.
To let Him hold us. Heal us. Prepare us.
The next chapter may feel uncertain, but we can trust the One who writes it.
A Symbol in Bloom
On Sunday, our bulletins were adorned with small blue flowers:
Forget-me-nots.
Their name says it all. These delicate blooms, though tiny, are resilient, thriving even in difficult soil. Legend has it they bloomed on the battlefield of Waterloo in 1815, a quiet tribute to lives lost. We saw them again this Memorial Day, symbolizing remembrance and sacrifice.
“Forget-me-nots bloom in hard places—just like faith.”
Amy shared a beautiful insight:
God is the “Me” in forget-me-not.
He is the Great I AM. The one who remembers. The one who answers prayer. The one who never forgets us—even when we feel forgotten.
He Will Not Forget
“God will not forget our faithfulness.
And we will not forget Amy.”
But more than that, we remember that God is faithful.
His love spans every season, every goodbye, every new beginning.
And as one chapter ends, He gently opens the next.
We don’t move forward alone.
We move forward with Him.
A Closing Prayer
Lord,
Thank You for being with us in every chapter—beginnings, endings, and all the unknowns in between.
Thank You for Pastor Amy’s faithfulness and the seeds she’s planted in our lives.
Help us remember all that You’ve done.
Let Your love bloom in the places that feel uncertain.
Give us the courage to wait with You, walk with You, and follow where You lead.
We trust You with what’s next.
Amen.
Next Steps (For You and Me)
If you're also navigating change, here are three gentle invitations for this week:
📝 Write down three ways God has shown up for you in the past.
Let your memory feed your hope.
📬 Reach out to someone else who’s walking through change.
A word of encouragement can go a long way.
🙏 Spend ten quiet minutes with God.
No agenda. Just be still and let Him speak into your next step.
“We are not forgotten.
We are remembered by a faithful God.”
Whatever you're stepping into, may you carry this truth with you:
God never forgets.
And He is not finished with your story.
Are you embracing—or trying to embrace—a change? How can I pray for you?
