My husband and I bought a charming old house in the Viscose Village when we married in 1975. We intended it to be our “starter home” but three kids and many years later, I’m still there. While the houses were planned as part of the perks of working in the rayon factory, they have many features that were modern for 1912, including indoor bathrooms and corner fireplaces.
But, hey, it WAS built in 1912 and it needs a bit of updating from time to time. In the last four years, I’ve put on siding, added carpets, laid a patio, and replaced ceilings. The work continues on the little house my son and I call home. Retirement will give me more time to scrape and paint!
What are some reasons you’d retire or make a change in your life?
Slower pace ! Enjoy life more! Do things we didn’t have time for when we were working. Enjoy!!!
I imagine your house a lot more charm than the homes built in the last couple of decades.
