If you’ve known me for more than five minutes, you know I have a rare visual disorder called keratoconus, more commonly called KC. It means that my vision is wacky at the best of times. Lately, I’ve found I can’t really see the signs on the city crosswalks very well, so I just follow the crowd

Each reason adds upp - your decision to retire is right! (Years ago I had cataract in both eyes. I remember the feeling about crossing the road - hardly able to see. My problem was solved by surgery.)
That’s a time when “following the crowd” is a wise decision.
