Your description of the mammo machine is so spot on... it's merely "painful" for relatively normal folks but for ones like my mom (may she rest) who had repeated bouts of cancer, biopsies, lumpectomies, and subsequent scar tissue, the mammos up to her last bout with stage IV were... torture. Sorry, can't think of a better word for it. Just her descriptions over the phone made me wince. Of course once they determined that fourth or fifth time it came back it was already metastasized... they didn't need to do mammos anymore. No need for that... and no need to make her pain worse than it already was. She passed four years ago and is finally, truly, at rest with Jesus.

Sharon, I am so sorry for the pain your mother endured. It is hard to see our loved ones suffer and often we question why God allows it to happen. Blessedly, there comes a time when the pain ends and the reward of heaven is received. Thanks for your insights and taking the time to comment.
