Since the Ukraine/Russian war started, I’ve been telling my students interesting facts about Ukraine every day. I post the fact on the large world map in my classroom. I want my students to see Ukraine as not just a faraway place, but a real place with lots of people, lots of languages, and the third busiest McDonald’s in the world! Here was Friday’s fact:
Kiev is home to Arsenalaya Metro Station, the deepest metro station in the world at an astonishing 105 meters deep! Not suitable for those who suffer from claustrophobia, then! That’s about a mile and a quarter!
And look at the artwork! Right now, these deep subways are protecting the people of Ukraine from bombs.
Share another fact about Ukraine as we continue to support them.
