My current class schedule calls for me to have lunch from 11:01 to 11:45. It’s early, but since I get up at 5 AM, most days I’m okay with an early lunch. But in my high school world, it’s the second lunch of the day, and, sad to say, often the warmers in the faculty dining room are pretty empty.
Sigh.
I’ve taken to packing my lunch, but if I leave the lights on in my room to eat, students are bound to knock on my door needing help.
Then there is that one day a week when I have lunch 8th period. Which isn’t even a lunch period!
Ah, to eat when I want, and what I want!
What would be a reason you have for retiring or changing your life?
When I was still teaching I preferred to eat in my classroom. Because I struggled with staying caught up, I used that time to eat and correct papers at the same time. I don't recommend it. It caused burnout. Taking a pause would have been a healthier approach. Now, as a retiree, I do eat whenever I want without the urgency of time. You'll love it.
Choosing the time to eat lunch whenever you like and wherever you like seems like a good reason to retire. Good luck with your plans!
