When I left my classroom for the last time a year ago, I followed my parents’ tradition of an “end of year” gift. In my case, it was more of an “end of decades” gift. With my love of all things yarny, I chose to invest in an Addi Knitting Machine. I fully intended to turn out many scarves and hats and baby blankets for charity.
That plan was lost amid some family illnesses and other things that demanded my time!
Yesterday, though, I dragged it out again and set it up. I needed to review the video about putting the yarn through the needles. With a couple of false starts, I was ready to roll! (Literally. All you do is turn the handle.)
Right now, I’m working on some Christmas scarves in red and green, but after church today, I sorted through my UFO’s (Un Finished Objects) and decided a few no longer held my interest and should be “frogged” (because you Rip-it, Rip-it) and the yarn put to better use.
I’ve even spoken to a couple of people about starting up a Prayer Shawl Ministry!
I may very well get distracted before too long, but at least the Addi is no longer collecting dust in my craft room closet.
Is there a hobby you began and then ignored for a while? Would you ever want to start it again?
