In the year since I’ve retired, my son and I have fallen into a routine. I generally work on editing for clients from 9 a.m. until noon, then I head downstairs for lunch. Lunch is no longer confined to what I packed the night before or what the school cafeteria is offering but can be anything I want! Even if that means going out to lunch with a girlfriend!
Reason 22. I'm Retiring So I Can
My current class schedule calls for me to have lunch from 11:01 to 11:45. It’s early, but since I get up at 5 AM, most days I’m okay with an early lunch. But in my high school world, it’s the second …
While my school lunch times of 25 minutes were usually spent in my classroom catching up on paperwork or tutoring ESL students, I now make myself take a lunch hour (!) I’ll watch an episode of ER on Netflix, maybe working on some knitting until the closing credits, and then I’ll head back up to do some writing of my own.
The point is that the lunch HOUR is mine. It doesn’t depend on class schedules or needy students. Just goes to show it really is the little things in life.
Anyone want to go to lunch with me? I’m available!
Has your lunch time changed since you retired or entered a new season of life?
Yes, I remember those teacher lunches. If I don't deliberately slow down, I rush through meals even today.
