I chuckled at his “oh mom” because yes, of course we know it was a big deal! Kudos to you for giving him the reins and to him for completing that task! I am still learning to let my son do more, where he can, & the more he does, the less of a “big deal” it seems :)
It's a slippery slope, isn't it? I never know when enough is too much. But testing the waters is always a good idea. I'm always amused by Allen's "oh, mom" looks. Like the time we were going on a plane for the first time and I spent three weeks preparing him and even took him to the airport for a walk through. We got on the plane, up in the air, and he turned to me and said, "That was easy. I don't know why you make such a big deal out of everything." Story of my life.
And you are both a good teacher and a learner. Great combination. :) Thanks for sharing your stories. This one particularly spoke to me. It was an act of courage and love. Support while letting someone learn to walk, and fly!

Haha, yes, so much prep to make it feel “easy” - story of my life, too!
Remember the Staples "Easy" button? I often thought I'd like to have one.
What a beautiful and uplifting post, Linda. Good parenting!
Thanks, Charu. Allen did not c ome with an instruction booklet, but we seem to be figuring it out. How is your memoir coming along?
I know, that is why these posts are so heart warming as they even show how much parents contribute to simple simplicities of life.
Thanks for asking. the memoir is going but slow. As you know. Here is a short snippet of the first part of one of the chapters, if you are interested.

I'll try to read this tomorrow. Charu. I am still working on revisions and the book proposal. Writng these daily posts is honing my writing skills!
Thanks Linda, no rush. I know how it is. And I agree about getting into the habit and honing your skills using this blog. I do enjoy your stories.
Thanks, Charu. Everyday, I learn something from my wonderful son.
